The Founding Fathers Were Right!!!; Maryland Court Strikes Down Gun Control Law; Best Home Defense Gun

All to often, we are told by the anti-gun crowd that the Second Amendment is not specific about our right to bear arms. They usually try to hang their argument on the phrase: "A well regulated militia." So what better way then to actually list what the Founding Fathers and others said about our right to own and bear arms.

"I ask sir, what is the militia? It's the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them." George Mason, Co-Author of the Second Amendment

"A militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves..." Richard Henry Lee, Served as President of the Continental Congress and represented Virginia as its Senator.

"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." Thomas Jefferson

"Everyone who is able may have a gun." Patrick Henry, Patriot and Gov. of Virginia. Remembered for his "Give me liberty or give me death" speech

"The ultimate authority...resides in the people alone."  James Madison, author of the Bill of Rights

"The best we can help for concerning people at large is that they be properly armed." Alexander Hamilton, Federalist Papers, First Secretary of the Treasury (and I'm certain he paid his taxes unlike our current one)

"The greatest danger to American freedom is a government that ignores the Constitution." Thomas Jefferson, Third President of the United States

"The constitutions of most of our States assert that all power is inherent in the people...it is their right and duty to be armed at all times." Thomas Jefferson

"The strongest reason  for people to retain their right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." Thomas Jefferson

"Firearms stand next to importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence...from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurrences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable...they deserve a place of honor with all that's good." George Washington, First President of the United States

"Americans have the right and advantage of being armed---unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms."  James Madison, Federalist Papers
Of course, there are countless more quotes from our Founding Fathers regarding the Second Amendment. But these should suffice anyone who needs the ammunition to debate the dummies of the anti-freedom and liberty crowd.

Maryland Court Rules State's State's Handgun Permit System is Unconstitutional

A Maryland judge ruled Maryland has no right to demand that residents to explain why they need to carry a gun outside the home. The law required state residents to explain why they have a "good and substantial reason" to carry a gun. The judge ruled the state created a rationing system by trying to limit the number of firearms outside the home.

This ruling is likely to challenge to similar laws in six other states.

What's The Best Gun For Home Defense?

According to David Shoenberg, an NRA certified, certified carbine instructor and a Glock certified instructor, recommends an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle chambered in .223. It has a 16" barrel and standard 30 round mag. The AR-15 is light recoiling, very maneuverable and a hard-hitting weapon.
